Ilosta is proud to be supporting the DNV-led Joint Industry Project (JIP), Offshore Wind Farm Life Management and Lifetime Extension (OWLIFE), a collaborative initiative focused on helping the offshore wind industry maximise the value, safety and performance of assets beyond their original design life.
As offshore wind farms continue to mature, operators are facing increasing pressure to make informed decisions about asset longevity, structural integrity and long-term investment. Extending the operational life of turbines presents a significant opportunity to increase energy generation, reduce costs and improve sustainability, but it requires confidence in the data and evidence behind those decisions.
Bringing together organisations from across the offshore wind sector, OWLIFE aims to develop a framework that supports effective life management and cost-efficient lifetime extension strategies. Over the next two and a half years, project partners will combine expertise in inspection, engineering, monitoring and asset management to address some of the industry’s most pressing challenges.
For Ilosta, the project aligns closely with our mission to help asset owners better understand the condition and performance of their wind turbine structures.
Our technology combines inspection intelligence, engineering analysis and data-driven insights to help operators move beyond simply identifying defects and towards understanding their impact on structural integrity, operational risk and remaining asset life.
By contributing to initiatives such as OWLIFE, we can continue supporting the development of industry-wide approaches that enable evidence-based decision making, helping operators optimise performance while maintaining safety and reliability throughout the asset lifecycle.
As offshore wind farms move closer to and beyond their original design life, collaboration across the industry will play a vital role in unlocking the full value of existing assets and supporting the continued growth of renewable energy generation.
Looking Ahead
The outcomes of the OWLIFE project have the potential to help asset owners and operators make more informed decisions around structural integrity, risk management and asset optimisation.
We look forward to working alongside DNV and the wider consortium as the framework develops and sharing updates as the project progresses.
